Accidental damage is a common type of claim and is described as sudden and unexpected damage. Adding accidental damage to your policy gives you wider cover and additional peace of mind.

Some accidental damage cover is provided as standard such as accidental breakage of bathroom fittings. If you would like accidental damage cover for your buildings and contents you can add this as an optional extra.

Buildings insurance

By adding accidental damage to the buildings section of your policy, you will be covered for damage to the structure of your home (such as walls and ceilings) which could range from -

  • DIY accidents
  • Putting your foot through the ceiling when in the loft.

Contents insurance

Our contents insurance also protects your belongings against certain unexpected events. Again, there is some cover provided as standard such as mirrors, glass tops and fixed glass in furniture.

By adding accidental damage to the contents section of your policy, you will be covered for accidentally -

  • Spilling a drink on the sofa
  • Knocking a vase over
  • Dropping a picture.

What’s not covered

  • Wear and tear or any gradual damage that naturally occurs over time.
  • Damage caused by vermin.
