Understanding you - accessibility
Making sure our products and services are accessible to everyone.
We’re committed to ensuring everyone can access our website and services.
Our aim is for you to have the best experience possible. We all have our own needs and may require support in different ways, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
We’re always keen to hear if there’s more we can do, and we welcome your feedback on how we can improve.
Letting us know more about you
If there’s something you’d like to share with us so we are aware next time we get in contact, you can fill out the form below and we will make a note on your policy. Examples might include:
- Health conditions
- Money worries
- Significant life events like a bereavement
- Finding reading, writing or numbers difficult
- Not feeling confident with English, or finding it hard to follow written or spoken information
- Not feeling confident using digital devices or online services
- Learning differences that affect how you take in information
We know small actions can make a big difference; you can ask us to:
- Talk slowly and clearly
- Not to call you at certain times
- Send your documents in large print or other formats
- Make sure there’s no background noise when we call
- Give you time to think and respond.
What you tell us will never impact your policy, it will just help us understand you a little better and support you in the best way we can.

How our website supports accessible use
We aim to offer the following accessibility features throughout our site:
- Alternative text is used on images
- All pages of the site, including forms, can be navigated using a keyboard, mouse, and other assistive devices such as JAWS (Job Access With Speech)
- Clear headings are used on pages
- Foreground and background colours are checked for contrast
- Images and pages are optimised for quick page load speed
- Content is written in plain English, avoiding unnecessary jargon
- A consistent navigation is present throughout the site.
Browser and device compatibility
Our sites use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to separate content from presentation. This helps reduce file sizes and improve page load times. JavaScript, a scripting language, is used to improve user experience of rollover menus etc.
You can find more information on improving digital accessibility on your device from AbilityNet. You’ll find step by step instructions on how to adapt your phone, computer or tablet to meet your needs.
