Project

Localised Social Events for Families Affected by Childhood Cancer.

How the £10,000 grant will help

We believe that no family should feel alone at any point in their childhood cancer journey. This funding will enable us to provide exciting social events that unite children with cancer and their families with others in their immediate community going through the same experiences. The project unites over 130 families across East Sussex, Brighton and Hove, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation that often come with a child’s cancer diagnosis. The events will provide a positive focus for the families, and a safe space to share their experiences, building strong support networks that can last a lifetime. Some of the events will include trips to our local adventure park, meals in local restaurants, mini-golf and go-karting. The project is driven by the families we support, with their thoughts and feedback shaping the activities we provide.

Quotation

“Winning £10,000 of funding is truly wonderful for our charity, it will enable us to provide localised social events for families across the county who are experiencing the devastation of childhood cancer. Thanks to the funding, many unique friendships will form and precious memories will be made, this is invaluable to the families we support.”
