About the role

To efficiently and cost effectively handle, negotiate and settle high value, complex, contentious and sensitive claims within designated authority and agreed service standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocation of high value, complex, contentious and sensitive claims from notification to closure, within own authority and in line with Ecclesiastical claims handling strategy, in order to obtain optimum settlement for company and customer, identifying where advice and referral is necessary 
  • Plan, prioritise and manage individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs to deliver pre agreed technical results and excellent claims customer service to customers, brokers and claimants
  • Develop close and interdependent relationships with customers and brokers making Ecclesiastical the number one choice for claims through claims handling, regular review meetings and problem solving
  • Establish and maintain adequate claims reserves and provide technical advice to all levels of claims handlers within the team, customers and intermediaries to ensure departmental goals are maintained 
  • Ensure personal and corporate (Claims) understanding of regulatory framework and compliance with regulatory standards for claims handling and related data protection requirements
  • Arrange and complete internal audits and contribute to external audits of suppliers, agreeing action plans for improvement and contributing towards the solution and monitor output
  • Identify complaints, act upon them and resolve in line with company policy and recommend relevant process improvements 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • ACII qualified and/or Law Degree
  • Significant experience in senior claims technical roles
  • Indepth insurance technical knowledge 
  • Experience of handling high value and complex Liability and Property Claims from “cradle to grave”.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements, regulations and litigation procedures within the Irish insurance industry 
  • Excellent negotiation skills 
  • Appropriate IT skills 
  • Critical thinking skills (will be tested) 
  • The ability to value personal injury claims of all levels.
  • The ability to provide guidance and advice to other members of staff and customers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to build and manage co-operative and productive relationships
