Roz Greaves
Regional Development Manager
“I think that the breadth of knowledge and expertise we have is one of the things that really differentiates Ecclesiastical, and makes it a great company to promote.”
I joined Ecclesiastical in 2006 as a development underwriter, in a field-based role developing accounts and broker relationships in Yorkshire and the North West.
Having worked in the insurance industry for 16 years, I’d heard of Ecclesiastical before I joined. I also knew of them as an ethical insurer with a strong presence in the care and education sector through personal charity and fundraising work.
I’m responsible for a number of brokers, and my work includes developing new and existing business, and promoting the Ecclesiastical brand. I work closely with the underwriters in the office, and I’m able to work with a brilliant team of enthusiastic and talented people. I think that the breadth of knowledge and expertise that we have is one of the things that really differentiates Ecclesiastical, and makes it a great company to promote.
I love the variety of my work. I try to spend three days a week visiting brokers as this is key to my role. On other days I will be in the office discussing renewals and cases with underwriters, getting up to speed with new business opportunities, and catching up on phone calls and paper work. I’m also involved in sales training, and am responsible for regional marketing campaigns. We’ve recently been running a champagne campaign, which has been a great success, and meant I got to deliver champagne to supportive brokers – always a nice thing to do!
The best thing about my role is the interaction I have with our customers. Some negotiations can be very challenging and I have to demonstrate real enthusiasm for the products and the company. But it’s a great feeling when you win a new piece of business and you can see how your work contributes to the overall success of the company.
I've just been promoted to Regional Development Manager and I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into the new role. It involves responsibility for two Development Underwriters and the sales development of a £20 million account, so there are some big challenges and opportunities ahead.
Ecclesiastical is a great company that’s really looking to the future. There are plenty of opportunities here if you're enthusiastic, hard working and open to new challenges and ideas.
